In August 2025, Amazon emailed its customers — subject: "Update on Amazon delivery preferences." Drivers weren't emailed. A lot still don't know.
Effective August 31, 2025, Amazon stopped delivering to rear doors and side porches — in Amazon's words, to enhance driver safety — and switched those addresses to front-door delivery by default.
That's why "back door" is no longer a choice customers can even pick. The delivery spots Amazon lists now: Front door · Hand it to the person who ordered or a family member · Receptionist or doorman · A mailroom · Another safe location. No back door.
So when an order note still says "back door" or "side porch," that note is older than the policy — and Amazon's own safety policy overrules it. Deliver to the front door. Then log the note here: every logged note is proof the policy is being ignored.
